. . .
A cabin for a family of five, with the ability to accommodate guests, located in the northern forests of Sweden. It functions as a year-round retreat and an outpost for recreational activities such as hiking and skiing.
. . .
Turning left off E45 in the northern forests of Sweden and following ”Borgavägen” until it ends will bring you to the Swedish mountain village of Borgafjäll. Far from the nearest town, the vast expanses of undisturbed nature inspire a tranquil and slow-paced lifestyle. A retreat here needs to be open to nature, while also shielded from it—creating a safe space that is protected from the elements but still connected to the wilderness on its doorstep.

Being solely responsible for the design taught me valuable lessons during the construction phase. While architecture in its initial stages can feel very precise and thorough, almost obsessively so at times, construction often isn’t. Factors such as timeframes and costs frequently conflict with architectural ideas, requiring a careful balance. Knowing which battles to fight and which to leave to those more knowledgeable in specific areas was something I had to navigate throughout this project.
